Golf Pride ZGRIP Cord Grip Review

Golf Pride ZGRIP Cord Grip

Are you by chance one of those golfers that’s absolutely terrible at hanging onto the club the second any bit of moisture gets into the mix? Or maybe you just want a firm rubber grip with a metric ton of traction? Well, a possible solution for you is the Golf Pride ZGRIP cord grip. Or as many of us affectionately refer to it, the Z-Cord. Defined by the Z-shape textured pattern throughout the grip, the ZGRIP is a solid all-weather performer with precise feel and excellent grip.

The Looks

The Golf Pride ZGRIP has the right amount of flash in my opinion. With the Z-shape traction pattern winding up the grip, the white body and end cap create a sharp contrast. In my opinion, this is one of the most immediately recognizable grips out there but doesn’t scream out for attention.

Feel 14

How Does it Feel?

I’ve used cord grips for quite awhile now because I’ve realized how much I really depend on the added traction. It’s not just a case of preference, but quite literally a functional need for me. That said, my hands can get torn up from cord pretty easily. With the corded Golf Pride ZGRIP, I feel like my hands tend to hold up a little better. There is still plenty of cord in the grip but the combination of the Z-shape pattern and the firm rubber seems to do a lot less damage to my hands. Let me be clear, I’m not saying everyone will have the same experience as I did. Our hands are all different, but that’s how my experience with this grip went.

The aforementioned Z-shape texture paired with the full cord of the ZGRIP makes for a very connected feel. It’s hard to explain other than just saying, “I feel like I get an exceptionally good grip in my hands.” Combine that sensation with the overall firm feel and you have a fantastic sense of feedback and control in your hands.

Performance 3

On-Course Performance

As I’ve already mentioned, the Golf Pride ZGRIP cord grip has excellent traction and feedback. The ZGRIP is designed to maintain these characteristics in all weather conditions. I’m the type of player where just a little sweat makes it hard to hold a grip, let alone rain. In the case of the ZGRIP, sweat is a non-issue and rain is easily managed. Especially when you’re me and immediately switch to rain gloves as soon as the first drop hits.

One thing worth explaining regarding the ZGRIP’s feedback is what to expect from a firmer grip. The whole purpose in a firm grip is to give the golfer as much response in their hands as possible. If you’re looking for a grip to take the shock out of the strike, don’t look to a firm grip. In the case of the ZGRIP, it’s firm and gives you a very precise feel and feedback in your hands.

Final Thoughts – Golf Pride ZGRIP Cord Grip

Some time ago, my buddy Kyle introduced the Golf Pride ZGRIP into my grip rotation. Well, the ZGRIP immediately earned its way into the small group of “old faithfuls” and became one of my few go-to grips. The ZGRIP is easily my favorite of the entire Golf Pride lineup as it meets all of my needs out on the course. I know, I know. How dare I put a Golf Pride grip above their own NDMC?! Well I do. I feel the traction, response, control, and overall grip are just better with the ZGRIP. If you want a grip you can hang onto in any condition and want precise feedback, the Golf Pride ZGRIP is definitely one that should be at the top of your list to check out.
