Carlsbad, CA – After an exciting final round KBS found itself in the Winner’s Bag at the Genesis Invitational at Torry Pines. The winner had a Tour 130X shafts in his Titleist irons and wedges. Due to unfortunate fires surrounding Riviera Country Club back in January, the tournament was relocated to Torry Pines in San Diego. The 25-year-old Swedish phenom came into the event searching for a result. Unfortunately, the weather forecast was looking dicey with non-stop rain on Thursday and Friday. Regardless of these tough conditions ahead, the young KBS player was ready to go put on a performance. Thursday, he got off to a slow start with a score of 74, but improved with an impressive score of 66. With sights at the lead going into the weekend, he would need to keep his foot on the gas. Saturday, he played steady and shot a score of 70. The final round on Sunday saw many players in contention, it was truly anyone’s game. The Swedish golfer wasn’t able to capitalize on the front nine, he would need to make a bunch of birdies on the back to overtake the top spot. The pressure didn’t phase him and he went on to birdie 3 of the last 5 holes, but still needed to make another on the 18th. He played the par-5 18th smart and was now facing a 7-foot birdie opportunity. The KBS player rose to the occasion and drained the bridie put to claim the victory by 1-stroke. This tournament was redemption for the 25-year-old who suffered from a sudden illness during the final round at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines only 3 weeks ago. He said, “Was nice to come here starting to feel like myself again and physically getting there, it means a lot. This is the best feeling in golf, and to be able to do what I did today is definitely going to help me going forward in the future.” A huge congratulations go out to the winner and all the players in the field of the Genesis Invitational! | Player Driven.
