The Red Label found itself in the Winner’s bag at the Valspar Championship after an exciting final round! The player had KBS Tour-V 120 shafts in his Ping Irons. The 27-year-old Norwegian golfer came into the event way under the radar based on the lackluster year he had been having. This came to a great surprise to fans and the player because he is a multiple time winner on tour and a usual stand out. Thursday, he shot an opening round score of 70 and quickly improved the next day with an impressive 67. Saturday, he shot a steady 69 to share the lead and have his first chance at a victory in almost 2 years. He started off his final round quickly with 2 birdies on two of his first 3 holes. A costly bogey on the 7th hole dropped him back into a 4-way tie for the lead. He would have to remained focused and outplay a tough opponent who was playing lights out going into the back nine. His opponent made more birdies on the back nine to give himself a 3-stroke lead over the KBS player. The KBS player made his move on the par-5 14th hole with a solid birdie to narrow the gap. Luckily for him his opponent made costly bogeys on holes 16 and 18, which would later cost him the tournament. The young KBS player made two clutch birdies on the 16th and 17th holes to give himself a 2-stroke lead going into the last. Feeling some of the pressure he sprayed his drive way to the right that would result in bogey. His bogey on the last was enough for the win and his 7th title on Tour. He said, “It feels unbelievable. It’s been quite the struggle the past year and a half, so for me to come back and win this tournament is quite incredible,” he said. “I was not very hopeful with my game leading into this week and, yeah, just goes to show this game is pretty crazy”. A huge congratulations goes out the Winner and the rest of the KBS players in the field at the Valspar Championship! | Player Driven. Tour Proven. |
