The Red Label found itself in the top spot at the Soudal Open after a record-breaking final round performance. The winner had KBS Tour 130 shafts in his Ping irons. Coming into the final round on Sunday the Norwegian KBS player was 9 strokes behind the leader. He would need to play lights out and hope his competition faltered in order to have a chance at the victory. Wasting no time the KBS player got off to a quick start with a birdie on the first, this set the tone for the rest of the round. He went on to make 3 more birdies on the front to move up the leaderboard. He kept his foot on the gas with 4 straight birdies on holes 10 through 13. He went on to birdie two more holes to finish with the new course record score of a -9, 62. He was now the new leader but would have to wait hours for his competition to finish. His competitors played steady rounds to tie the KBS player and force a playoff. The playoff only went 1 hole and the KBS played drained his birdie putt to claim the victory. He said, “[Winning] wasn’t even on my mind. I just wanted to play a good round of golf, been working hard on trying to stick to my process recently. Obviously today I felt like it was a little bit my day and that was evident at the end… I couldn’t be more thrilled. “A huge congratulations goes out the Winner and the rest of the players in the field at the Soudal Open!
