The Nike Air Max 1 G Hot Punch – Straight Fire
Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on the Nike Air Max 1 G HOT PUNCH golf shoes. Aka, the Nike Air Max 1 Golf “Vice” colorway. Now, you may be asking, “but, Bill, you already reviewed the Air Max 1 golf shoes – why are you posting about them again and so soon?” You’re right, I did, and you can read that review here. I’m posting this Hot Punch colorway for no other reason than they’re pure fire…obviously.
Shortly after posting that review, the AM1 golf shoes became a staple of my golf shoe game. They’re comfortable, reliable, and look good – even on me. The Hot Punch is no exception.
This was a somewhat interesting release for Nike. The Hot Punch colorway started popping up in pictures on the internet and in catalogs for their entire current shoe line, but information was otherwise minimal. People that ran pro shops were scrambling to find release information for these as well as the Hot Punch Tour Premieres, but all they could find was “July 2017” for a release date. Next thing you know, the Hot Punch Nike options started popping up on some European sites and selling out like dadgum hot cakes!
Slowly but surely, the Air Max 1 G Hot Punch started popping up at smaller shops and/or people were getting their special orders courtesy of a “hook up.” Then one day the AM1 Hot Punch popped up on a big box’s website! Within minutes of the GolfWRX community being aware, the AM1 Hot Punch was gone again! It was around that time that the eBay auctions started and people were listing these for like $4.6 million, give or take. Nike has been real weird with their releases lately and it’s leaving their fans in hysterics. That’s another topic for another day, but the uncertainty of the Hot Punch colorway hitting the market was just too much for the golf community to take!
To this day, I don’t know if these have fully released in the US, but any competent sneaker heads should have no trouble tracking a pair down at a good price at this point. And if you can’t, well, who cares? They’re just shoes. Even IF they’re a guaranteed proven head turner at your local track…
