Revo Surge Sunglasses Review

Revo Surge Sunglasses

Revo recently created a “Revo x Bear Grylls” capsule collection featuring comfortable, versatile, durable high-quality sunglasses to hold up to an active lifestyle. I already reviewed the “virtually indestructible” Revo Prosper sunglasses from this Bear Grylls collection, but now I’m trying out a different style with the sick polarized Blue Water lens! The Revo Surge sunglasses are lightweight, comfortable, and bendable which is great for an active person on the go. A nice sturdy and lightweight pair of sunglasses is also quite useful when golfing, and not just for outdoor survival.

The Looks

What I like about the glasses from the Revo x Bear Grylls capsule is that their looks are really versatile. Both the Surge (pictured in this review) and the Prosper seamlessly transition from the course to the outdoor family barbecue you’re headed to after your round. Oh, you’re going on the boat with the family to enjoy some water sports or fishing? Perfect look there as well. Revo utilized what they call “8-base lens technology” which gives the thin-wire-framed Surge a more curved look across your face and better eye coverage.

The Prosper is available in three different color variations. Pictured here is the matte black frame with Revo’s killer “Blue Water” lens. I know everyone has different taste, but I absolutely love this Blue Water lens. The other two options are a matte black with with a graphite lens, and a matte gold frame with Terra lenses.

Comfort Level

I mentioned earlier that the Revo Surge is lightweight. The nose pads are adjustable for a custom fit and rest comfortably on your face. Utilizing a thin wire frame makes the Surge comfortable to wear over extended periods of time.

I think I say this in every sunglasses review I do. One area that I don’t think gets enough credit in terms of comfort is the lens. Try a pair of glasses with a trash lens for a few hours, then try a pair with a premium lens. In my experience I notice a significant difference in eye fatigue, and even headaches. It’s so much easier on the eyes over a long period of time when you have a good lens. The Surge’s polarized Serilium lenses are easy on your eyes and have what Revo calls Revo Light Management System. The Revo Light Management System filters the bad stuff like UV, HEV, and Blue Light.

Oh, speaking of Blue Light, the lenses are also “digital device-friendly”. Now your polarized lens won’t distort your digital screens when you look at them. This nice because now you don’t have to take your glasses off to look at your phone!

On-Course Performance

Revo’s polarized lenses are very vivid. Views have very sharp definition and high contrast for a vibrant and clear image. That vivid view highlights landscape features and gives you clear definition of the course’s topography. Make sure you pick your preferred color for the lens as it will play a role in how things look through your own eyes. We all process colors and visuals differently!

While Bear Grylls doesn’t scream “golf crossover”, the concept of being indestructible and “active-lifestyle friendly” is certainly a good fit for the sport. First off, I don’t know about anyone else, but I always keep a pair of sunglasses in my golf bag. I never know when I’m going to need them, so it’s always nice to be sure I have a pair ready to go. Golf bags can also take quite a beating bouncing around the trunk of your car or golf cart, being dropped on the ground, and lord knows what else. Knowing how flexible and durable the Revo Surge is a nice peace of mind when you know they’re in your bag pocket. You can literally bend the fame in half and they go right back to normal! That said, I still advise being a responsible person and use the included hard case for safe keeping, because why not?

Final Thoughts – Revo Surge Sunglasses

I’ve been fortunate to review a handful of pairs of Revo sunglasses since starting this website. Talk about a company I didn’t know enough about before and have been extremely impressed with since “discovering” them. The Revo Surge is no exception. In my opinion, Revo easily makes some of the best lenses in the game. As an everyday wearer, the Surge is excellent and I know I’ll have them a long time as long as I just take reasonably good care of them. At the very least, it’s always fun to watch someone’s face when you bend the glasses in half right in front of them.
