Serengeti Golf Ball Review

The Serengeti golf ball is designed with the mid to high handicap golfer in mind and offered at a price that wont break the bank. Their 3-peice Surlyn golf ball is built for durability and designed to offer a solid mix of distance, control and consistency. These balls cater to the golfer who want a reliable option to help them improve while removing the worry of losing an ultra-expensive premium ball.

Feel 8

How Does it Feel?

When you first strikehe Serengeti golf ball, it has a firm, durable feel. Exactly what you’d expect from a Surlyn-covered ball. It is not as soft as some of the more premium urethane balls you may be familiar with. This ball still offers a decent level of feedback, especially on full swings. Its a little less responsive around the greens than higher-end balls, but for a mid to high handicap player, this ball feels solid enough to give you confidence. The firm feel is paired with a solid sound on full swings. Touchy shots can take on a somewhat higher pitch clicky tone.

Off the Tee

Off the tee is where the Serengeti golf ball really excels. The combination of its responsive cover and 3-piece constructions delivers a smooth and consistent ball flight with a noticeable boost in distance. Although it will not give most golfers Tour-level distance, you’ll see some extra yards here. The flight is surprisingly stable, and doesn’t balloon thanks to its low spin characteristics. A huge win for those of us who struggling with spinny shots out to the left and/or right.

Approach 7

On the Approach

When it comes to approach shots, the Serengeti golf ball is decent, but its not going to blow you away. It offers a good balance of distance and control, and while you can still get a solid strike with your irons, you wont see a high level of spin and stopping power. That being said, for mid to high handicappers, its more than enough to give you a solid approach shot and put you in good position for your next play. You can swing away knowing you’re getting solid performance that your wallet can be happy about.

Serengeti Golf Ball 6

Around the Green

Around the greens is where I noticed the greatest difference between the 3-piece Serengeti golf ball and my usual gamer. The feel isn’t as soft, so you might struggle with resposne on the delicate chips and pitches. It isn’t terrible by any means, it just doesn’t scream “soft!” This ball just doesn’t offer the same level of control when you’re trying to spin one back or stop one quickly, unless you’re good at really making your wedges bite. For what this ball only slightly lacks in greenside control, it makes up for with distance and dispersion.

On the putting surface, the Serengeti golf ball gives you a clean, true roll. While the firmness of the ball might throw off some players who are used to a softer feel of other premium balls, it is actually a benefit. It gives you a solid, predictable role and doesn’t have that squishy action leading to bouncing or skidding on your line. Speaking of line, my favorite part of this ball is the triple alignment aid. The blue-black-blue stripe makes lining up your putts simple without the need for a permanent marker.

I was really impressed with this ball and its its durability at this price point. More affordable golf balls are often prone to tearing up rather quickly!
