For as long as I have been playing the game, I have enjoyed the walk. There’s something to say about having time between shots to collect yourself, blow off steam or the rare occasion of celebration. Although, many bags aren’t built for extreme comfort or a lightweight carry and can make for a long day. Sunday Golf has changed the game with the new El Camino bag. Weighing in at just 3.9 lbs, the El Camino packs all the best parts of traditional carry bags into an ultra lightweight package. Carrying up to 10 clubs, this bag is perfect for a casual 9 holes, range session, or even a full 18 holes. After carrying the El Camino, you will never look at your old, heavy bag the same way again.
The Looks
The El Camino is the big brother to Sunday Golf’s popular Loma bag. Keeping with the minimalist design yet increasing club carry capacity and storage pockets makes the El Camino closer to traditional sized stand bags. However, it is still on the smaller end of the spectrum. With four colors to choose from, all with black accents and matching straps you really can’t go wrong. The Heathered Gray is pictured here and other options include, Matte Black, Midnight Green, and Seafoam.
Design & Features
What the Sunday Golf El Camino may lack in size, it makes up for in features. Coming in at the top of my favorite of the features is the frosty pocket. Perfect for a handful of adult beverages or two sports drinks. It will actually keep whatever you decide to put in there cool compared to many others.
Two heavily padded straps and a self balancing system provided comfort when fully loaded with your clubs and all gadgets or accessories you can fit in the four pockets. A range finder pocket, large apparel pocket all in addition to a ball pocket and fleece lined valuable pocket are all secured by waterproof zippers for peace of mind on a wet day.
Lastly, a often overlooked but valuable feature is the velcro glove holder. Trust me, it’ll save you from a nasty and wrinkled glove. Who likes that? Oh and don’t forget the external tee and pencil holder that comes in handy, combined with the mesh ball holder, you’ll have everything you need without fumbling through your old bag.
On-Course Performance
The Sunday Golf El Camino bridges the gap between an efficient 9 hole and even potentially 18-hole bag. Weighing just 3.9 LBS unloaded, the El Camino provides an extremely comfortable carry. The four-way top and full length dividers make club management a breeze. Sunday Golf lists a ten club capacity, but I found I could snugly fit twelve in the bag. Not to go unmentioned is the stand mechanism. A good one goes unnoticed, a bad one ruins the whole bag. The EL Camino features a sturdy base and robust legs for whatever lie you find yourself in.
