Gear Talk: Sub 70 659 Irons Fitting

This is a Gear Talk episode I’ve personally been looking forward to for awhile. Sometime last summer, I saw one of the first prototypes of a new Sub 70 iron in Jason Hiland’s bag. It looked really clean and was somewhat of a departure from previous Sub 70 iron models. This club eventually became the new Sub 70 659 CB which would also be joined by TC (Tour Cavity) and MB (muscle back) versions. With the new Sub 70 659 irons ready to go, the TRL team headed out to ‘The Seventy’ to check them out!

In this episode, Jason Hiland introduces ‘The Seventy’ and gives us rundown of the new 659 irons. Then we get to the good part…I actually test and get fit for the new 659s. This was extremely insightful for me and a nice reality check into my iron game. Honestly, I feel like I’ve lost my way a bit with my iron setup so this was especially beneficial. Jason did a great job assessing my swing and dialing in the right iron setup for my game.

I learned a lot from Jason and feel like I’m setup for some desperately needed success with my irons. The Sub 70 659 irons sure caught my attention and I would strongly encourage others to make a trip to ‘The Seventy’ to experience the process for themselves.
