Tour Edge Pro 721 Exotics Fairway Wood
Fast ball speeds, penetrating flights, and one of the best looking fairway woods I’ve ever seen. I’m talking about the Tour Edge Exotics Pro 721 fairway wood. With its compact profile and deep-face design, the Pro 721 fairway wood is an absolute low-spinning monster for skilled players with faster swing speeds. Like the rest of the Pro 721 lineup, this fairway wood is “straight off the Tour Van” and limited to 1,000 pieces.
The Looks
In line with the rest of the Pro 721 lineup, Tour Edge gave the fairway wood the same matte treatment. The black carbon wings and Ridgeback spine not only look cool but this finish also reduces glare from the sun at address. In terms of shape, Tour Edge went with a more compact 155cc pear-shaped head that’s shorter from heel to toe as well as face to trailing edge. Tour players gravitate toward this shape as the look frames the ball cleaner and lends itself to easy workability. Additionally, the Pro 721 has a deeper face which helps with keeping spin down and more power.
How Does it Feel?
Tour Edge’s combination of wrap-around dual carbon wings and Ridgeback is especially noticeable in the Pro 721’s feel. The carbon wings provide a lighter weight alternative to titanium which allows Tour Edge to relocate that weight to strategic locations throughout the club head. In the case of the Pro 721 fairway wood, the weight is moved low in the head and closer to the face for a more “front heavy” center of gravity (CG) that quicker swing speeds often prefer for its lower launch and spin characteristics. The Ridgeback spine is designed to make the entire head more rigid which also makes the club feel generally more solid.
Yes, Diamond Face is back! The Diamond Face 2.0 in the Pro 721 fairway wood is comprised of 61 interwoven diamond shapes behind the face with seven different variations in thickness. (Up from just three in the initial version of Diamond Face.) These diamonds essentially act as mini trampolines to create more jump off of the face. The end result is more ball speed and a livelier feel. Another benefit of Diamond Face 2.0 is that extreme perimeters of the face are 20% thinner. This makes the club feel a touch more forgiving and provides more speed off the face on mishits.
How Does it Sound?
To control the Pro 721 fairway wood’s sound, Tour Edge placed a series of panels inside the head to “direct and diffuse” sound waves at impact. These Sound Diffusion Panels work in concert with the carbon wings and the Ridgeback design to deliver a finely-tuned “whap” at just the right volume. The tone of a good shot off the sweet spot is perfectly modest with the right combination of strength and liveliness. If you’re looking for your fairway to sound direct and to the point, the Exotics Pro 721 is it.

When Tour Edge says the Exotics Pro 721 fairway wood is low-spin bomber for players with faster swing speeds, they aren’t lying. In my testing, I had multiple 3 WOODS rolling out to just over 290 yards. These shots were absolute missiles piercing through the air with little regard to any wind trying to get in the way. But don’t forget that part about faster swings speeds. To achieve these distances, I couldn’t take any swings off. With the CG low and forward, you need that speed to get the ball in the air and carrying. That’s pretty standard for any woods designed this way, so it’s important to know your game and if you’re capable of playing a Tour-grade fairway wood.
Another hallmark of the Pro 721 fairway wood is its natural desire to keep the ball on a straight line. This should not be taken for granted in a compact, deep-faced fairway wood designed for better players. Tour Edge’s Flight Tuning System (FTS) pushes weight as far toward the toe and heel as possible to help keep the face of the club square through impact. Should you want to influence the shape of that flight a little bit, the FTS weights are adjustable so you can set them to fade or draw biases. Once again, you’ll need the swing speed for it, but the Pro 721 is a real weapon for the powerful target golfer.
Final Thoughts – Tour Edge Exotics Pro 721 Fairway Wood
The fact that Tour Edge Golf rolled out another new monster of a fairway wood should come as a surprise to absolutely no one. With quite the lineage of premium fairway woods going back literally decades, the past few years have been quite exceptional. Is this Exotics Pro 721 their best to date? I don’t know, those are extremely difficult shoes to fill, but it’s certainly up there if you have the game for it. Powerful ball flights, tight control, and serious distance are everything better players demand in a fairway wood, and the Pro 721 certainly delivers. If that’s not enough, it’s easily one of the best looking fairway woods on the market this season. So if that sounds exactly like what you’re looking for, act fast. These limited edition fairway woods won’t last long.
