TRUE linkswear TRUE OG3 High Golf Shoe Review

TRUE linkswear TRUE OG3 High

When the forecast turns ugly, most golfers either pack it in or reluctantly lace up something that feels more like a rain boot than a golf shoe. The TRUE linkswear TRUE OG3 High “Made for Miserable Weather” changes that narrative. Designed for the player who refuses to let rain, mud, or cold stop a round, the OG3 High brings TRUE’s signature comfort and natural feel to a fully waterproof, high-cut silhouette built for the worst playing conditions. coming from a brand born in the Pacific Northwest, where soggy fairways and unpredictable skies are part of the game, it’s no surprise TRUE has crafted the perfect shoe for miserable weather golf.

The Looks

TRUE linkswear has always leaned toward a clean, functional aesthetic. The TRUE OG3 High continues that tradition, but with a bit more technical edge. Its mid-boot profile clearly signals that it’s ready for rough weather, but it still maintains the understated, modern vibe TRUE fans love. The shoe is available in two distinct colorways. Those are the black pictured here which features grey accents and a touch of burnt orange stitching, and the “Nimbus” white, each giving the shoe a versatile, rugged look. Subtle branding and high-quality materials make the OG3 High look more like a stylish outdoor cross trainer than a bulky rain shoe.

Comfort Level

Simply put, the TRUE linkswear TRUE OG3 High is one of the most comfortable weatherproof golf shoes I’ve worn. The internal bootie construction wraps around your foot like a soft, supportive hug – snug and secure without ever feeling restrictive. Beneath your foot, the Wanderlux foam midsole provides a plush, responsive feel that absorbs impact without losing connection to the ground. It strikes a great balance between cushioning and stability, keeping every step smooth and natural.

The shoe’s web lacing system deserves some credit here too. Instead of traditional eyelets, it uses a series of integrated loops that evenly distribute tension across your foot and around your ankle for a secure, custom fit that won’t loosen as you walk. It’s quick to adjust, even with wet or muddy hands, and keeps the bootie comfortably locked in place. An UltraFlex Collar makes slipping these on and off surprisingly easy which I didn’t expect out of these high-tops. It flexes naturally with your movement but still gives the ankle support and structure needed for wet, uneven ground.

Combined with TRUE’s trademark zero-drop platform and wide toe box, the OG3 High delivers one of the most natural, foot-friendly fits you’ll find in any golf shoe. Much like the closely-related OG3 Pro.

On-Course Performance

While the TRUE linkswear TRUE OG3 High is technically a spikeless golf shoe, it doesn’t play like one. The outsole is firm and structured with deep, well-shaped traction elements that really bite into the turf. There’s no sense of slipping or sliding. Just solid, predictable footing no matter how slick the ground gets. During my first round, I got caught in a full-on downpour, and these shoes handled it like it was nothing. The waterproofing kept my feet completely dry, even walking through standing water. The grip stayed consistent from tee to green and the elements were no match.

The Wanderlux midsole works in tandem with the outsole to create that signature TRUE ground feel. Stable and connected to ground for precise feedback and foot control. It helps you stay centered through the swing, with just enough flex underfoot to let your body move naturally. The higher ankle profile adds another layer of balance and control, giving you more stability during weight transfer without feeling stiff or restrictive. It’s also a nice benefit for traversing hilly terrain. From damp fairways to soaked rough and even in sand traps, the OG3 High delivers dependable traction and confident movement throughout the round.

Curious how the “spikeless spikes” do on hard surfaces like roads or sidewalks?

    • I know exactly what you mean! So many spikeless shoes feel like death traps on any concrete or asphalt surface. The TRUE OG3 is a little “firmer” on the sole compared to most of TRUE linkswear’s spikeless shoes. That said, I haven’t had any issues walking around off the course on them when I’ve needed to…aside from taking a cartoonish spill on black ice that would have happened with any shoes.
