ECCO BIOM C4 Golf Shoe Review

ECCO BIOM C4 Golf Shoe

The ECCO BIOM C4 Golf Shoe is yet another stylish, comfortable, high-performing shoe from the Danish shoe brand. ECCO blends sporty European-inspired looks with their EXHAUST GRID technology to keep your foot cool and ventilated. The BIOM C4 is a nice fitting, stable, spikeless piece of golf equipment that will look good in every setting.

The Looks

I’m a seasoned ECCO golf shoe guy. Often, I’ll like their traditional bold, European styling, but the ECCO BIOM C4 comes off classy and modern. White goes with anything, right?  Right. This model keeps it pretty simple with the performance leather, but adds a bit of flair around the arches. At first, I was like “cool, gimme the white with the blue accent” only to find out that the other side of the shoe features a flash of red at the arch of the foot.

With that, it’s still a very sporty golf shoe. There’s a meshy area at the top that’s adding a bit to the visual layers too. The one thing to pay attention to might be the sole.  It’s a clear, plasticky/rubber material. Will it stay clear? I hope so. It’s super sharp right out of the box, but hopefully it won’t discolor. In all, the BIOM C4 will look great in shorts or pants, and pretty much any occasion.

Comfort Level

One of the reasons I wear ECCO so often is that the fit is super spot on for me. My foot is just a bit wide and all their models seem to mirror that exactly. Add to that, the Euro sizing tends to work well for me. If you’re walking 17k+ steps in a round, the fit and comfort has to be right.

The ECCO BIOM C4s have what they call FLUIDFORM, which I like because it seems to cushion the exact right amount. I tend to like a softer shoe anyway, and this works well. These do not have a very stiff heel cup, which I prefer, as those can get a bit uncomfortable in my experience.

Another thing I like, is that these will keep a good grip on the turf, but you’re not going to feel any rocks or other sharp stuff on the ground. My home course has a ton of rough gravel and it’s no fun to get the “stepped on a LEGO poke” while playing golf. It’s a good balance of being supported and comfortable, but not too elevated either. Credit to ECCO’s NATURAL MOTION tech here. It keeps you stable and strong when you need it, but not like you’re stuck to the ground.

On-Course Performance

I love spikeless golf shoes. One of the best golf inventions of the last thirty years.  ECCO was there at the beginning and continues to be a leader with their MTN GRIP. They put a lot of effort into a grip pattern on the bottom of the shoe, and like I mentioned above, will keep you where you need to be. My first few rounds were in early morning games, so I had to deal with plenty of dew and sprinkler water. No issues whatsoever. Plus, GORE-TEX kept my zoomers dry all day.

The first couple rounds with the ECCO BIOM C4s were 36-hole walking days and they went straight on the feet with no break in time. Direct from my trunk to the first tee. I’ve never had a blister, never felt a spike (from any ECCO, these are obviously spikeless), and I don’t think I’ve ever worn out an ECCO shoe. Can’t imagine these will be any different. They’re an every day, every occasion worthy golf shoe.

Final Thoughts – ECCO BIOM C4

I’m an unapologetic ECCO fan. I’ve had at least a dozen pairs over the last few years, and they consistently release good looking, comfortable golf shoes. They’ve mastered the spikeless golf shoe and continue to blend new tech with reliable designs. The BIOM C4 is another winner and they’ll be with me for many long 36-hole walking days to come.
