As we started nearing 1000 followers on Instagram, Tommy and I started talking about some giveaways to do to finally get us over that number. Then right around that time, the Coronavirus pandemic blew the doors open and started sweeping over the world. So rather than try to boost our Instagram followers, we want to use our spring cleaning being done during quarantine to try and support a good cause for people that could really use some help right now.
The Giveaway
So here’s how we’re going to try and make this work…
Between all of us on this site, and some of our close friends, we (probably unsurprisingly) have a lot of random golf stuff laying around our basements, garages, and closets just “collecting dust”. So rather than have it sitting around, we came up with a fun way to give some of this stuff away and raise a few bucks for a local organization we’ve selected.
Given the current times, we’ve selected the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry*. They’re a great organization in my hometown just outside of Chicago that helps families dealing with food insecurity and helping to make sure children in need will have three healthy meals a day. You can learn more about them here.
We’re going to run this thing like a raffle. If you email (info@drivingrangeheroes.com) us your receipt for your donation, we’ll put your name in a hat and randomly pull names to send random items to at a later date. Maybe it’s a used shaft from a review? Or maybe it’s a Callaway wedge or Cobra hybrid? Maybe it’s a signed 8×10 head shot from Tommy’s modeling career… Who knows?! The point is, we have a lot of random stuff laying around and this is a good way to help out the community while freeing up some space.
The Logistics
To recap how this works and clearly outline the steps, see below:
- Donate to the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry HERE
- Email your receipt to info@drivingrangeheroes.com (please make sure we know who you are so we can keep it organized!)
- Your name goes into a hat for random prize selection
- Contest will remain open for a few weeks – end date will be communicated once it’s determined
- Winners will be notified and prizes will be sent out when we the team can safely get together and coordinate the effort to get the goods organized
“FINE PRINT!!!”
Listen, the whole point of this is to try and do a little good in the world right now. Rather than just throw stuff away, keep letting it sit collecting dust, etc, we want to try and help. PLEASE keep in mind the spirit in which this is intended and we graciously ask that you respect that. We want to have some fun with our audience and help a great cause. If you’re looking for whole sets of irons and $3000 Tour putters, that’s not what we’re doing here. Yes, there will be some clubs and decent gear involved, but we respectfully ask that you embrace the actual purpose for this effort and keep it easy. Also, we will send something to as many people as we can, but a donation does NOT necessarily guarantee a prize.
We really appreciate all of your support for this site and what we do, and hopefully we can all work together to help some people out!
*This is in no way officially/formally affiliated with the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. We just chose them as who we wanted to raise money for.
