ECCO BIOM COOL Pro Golf Shoe Review

ECCO BIOM COOL Pro Golf Shoe

When I found out they were releasing the ECCO BIOM COOL Pro, I had to get both my feet AND hands on them.  Makes sense, considering I’m a world-renowned ECCO golf shoe fan.  (At least world renowned in my own mind.)  The BIOM COOL Pro offers up the same high-quality materials and construction you’d expect from ECCO, but this time with a focus on lighter weight and breathability.

 The Looks

With ECCO, I’m usually pretty smitten by the “look.”  I typically rate myself about a 5.6/10 in general style, but with ECCO shoes, I go up at least a full point.  For my pair of BIOM COOL Pros, I went with all black.  One thing I like a lot with these is you can go with a solid color scheme, but mix a few textures.  With the BIOM COOL Pro, ECCO offers up a classic white, black, and also a concrete/blue option.  Should I get those too?

The main outer portion of the shoe is constructed with ECCO’s famous Yak Leather uppers with an embossed pattern.  Combine that with their equally famous BIOM last, and my all time favorite material, Gore-Tex, and you get a multi-material beauty of a golf shoe.  Here’s the kicker for the BIOM COOL Pro – they have what they call a T.PU EXHAUST GRID built into the sole.  This feature not only looks neat, but helps create an air flow that keeps your toesies comfortable.

Comfort Level

I would call the BIOM COOL Pro ECCO’s most comfortable shoe, and I’ve tried a bunch.  My reason is that I think I’ve found my favorite sole – highlighted with their NATURAL MOTION tech.  I’ve become more of a fan of spikeless golf shoes, as they’re usually a bit lower profile and help “connect” to the ground better.  This particular pattern is extremely stable and flexible, which is a good mix for most turf conditions.

ECCO has made a name for themselves by incorporating smart design features.  As I mentioned, they combine a variety of materials and shoe building techniques to give you the best fit and best performance.

Anyway, ECCO continues to work with their tried and true FLUIDFORM sole.  I’m a pretty flat footed guy, and these give me the right amount of arch support for walking on those long 36-hole days.

Performance 3

 On-Course Performance

The ECCO BIOM COOL Pro went straight from the box onto the first tee at Streamsong Blue.  No break in period, no range time, not even a walk around my condo.  As I expected, they’re perfect.  Soft and supportive the whole way through.  There’s always a concern about the new-shoe, back-of-the-heel blister, but never a worry here.  ECCO offers up the TRI-FI-GRIP outsole that gives you the right combination of support and stability.  There’s almost no chance of slip outs with these sneaks, no matter the conditions of the turf.

Final Thoughts – ECCO BIOM COOL Pro

So I write this review with extreme bias.  (Can I even do that???)  I’ve never stuck my foot into an ECCO golf shoe I didn’t like.  What I can say is that I’m continuously impressed on how they continue to make different models for different types of courses, conditions, and performance needs.  The BIOM COOL Pro is one of the best mixes of lightweight, supportive, durable, and comfortable golf shoes out there.  This one could very likely be my go-to golf shoe in the next year!

I agree with the review, I have the BOA version and they are absolutely fantastic, I can micro adjust the shoe feel / fit in the blink of an eye, something you simply cannot do easily with laces.
Yes I was already a huge ECCO fan having had a couple of pairs of cleated golf Bioms before, but these are in another league entirely, keeping my feet cool, comfortable and very well supported.
Had to go up from 45 to a 46 because of the Gore tex lining, but that’s exactly the same for my other pairs of ECCO’s of which there are many !!
