ECCO BIOM G3 Shoe
The ECCO BIOM G3 golf shoe is a fantastic addition to my already loaded shoe closet. It combines modern style and comfort with subtle technology and can make a person’s golf game even better. I’ll share a few of my thoughts on why the BIOM G3 will be in the regular rotation for me this year (and beyond)!
The Looks
ECCO knows how to make a strong first impression. They ship products to you in a stylish box, it’s packed neatly, and screams quality. And this is before you even get a look at the shoes! The BIOM G3 has a sporty, sharp look to it. They mix my favorite material of all time (Gore-Tex) with Yak Leather. Is this really made out of yaks? I’m not 100% sure, but I think so. If true, thanks to our furry friends for helping make an incredible golf shoe possible…
Anyway, they’ve got a cool, supple texture with a distinct splash of color. If you’re looking for a more solid white or black shoe, they’ve got it. I happen to like a little dose of “zing” and contrast in my shoes, because it makes them stand out in precisely the amount I want.
With ECCO being a Danish company, they often have products that lean kind of “fashion forward” for a solid helping of European style. “Futuristic” might even be a word we can use for some of their models. That’s not always my thing, but the good news is they make a lot of varieties and everyone should be able to find something that fits their eye. I feel ECCO’s among the best in the business at making the classic “formal wear” style and the sporty style, with the BIOM G3 being the epitome of sporty style.
Comfort Level
My tender toes tell me that the ECCO BIOM G3 is among the most comfortable golf shoes I’ve ever found. Because of the high grade materials and expert craftsmanship, you’re in for virtually zero break-in period. We all know how important that is when you’re in an athletic shoe. There are a lot of brands out there where you really need to wear them around the house a bit and loosen them up, but that’s not the case here. In my multiple pairs of ECCOs, I get next to no blisters or sore spots.
I highly recommend you try the BIOM G3 on first to ensure a proper fit. Many ECCOs, including this model, will talk about “extra width.” I’m not saying you need to have weird wide feet to feel good in the BIOM G3s, but I advise you to try them on first. On-Course Performance
Even though ECCO dominated the golf scene years ago during the initial spikeless craze, they do what they always do – give the player options. The BIOM G3 features a fairly firm bottom with their unique Zarma-Tour sole pattern. Add to that, you’re in for some Champ Slim-Lok spikes. This shoe locks you in – no doubt about it. What I like is that they offer a pretty low profile. I’ve had some other shoes where if feels like you’re walking an inch above the turf, and that’s not a good feeling for me.
The feel here is that you’re definitely not walking on air, but that there’s a strong connection to the ground. One thing I want to add is that I don’t feel like these spikes will tear up soft greens either. I tend to want to wear something that will minimize slip outs in soft or wet conditions, but I always feel bad about marking up delicate areas. These BIOM G3s do very well in giving you the performance you want, but it keeps the Superintendants from chasing you down too.
Final Thoughts
ECCO has created another winner of a golf shoe, providing modern good looks, new technologies, premium materials, and super performance. The ECCO BIOM G3 shoe will offer golfers a comfortable, sporty piece of equipment that will make all your friends think you’re a European fashion model at the same time.
