The Lydia Ko edition of the BIOM G5 features nods to Ko’s New Zealand and South Korean heritage. Technologies such as BIOM Natural Motion, ECCO FLUIDFORM Direct Comfort, a BOA Fit System, and a 100% GORE-TEX make for a comfortable wear and premium performance as typically expected from ECCO.

The Looks
I’ve always found ECCO to have a sort of “definitive” look that’s unique to their brand. It’s a blend of European style with an athletic vibe somewhere in between a sneaker and dressier shoe. The BIOM G5 certainly fits that profile. While the Lydia Ko version pictured here is only available in one colorway, the regular version of the women’s BIOM G5 is available in white or black colorways.
Unique to the Lydia Ko BIOM G5s are the incorporation of New Zealand’s silver fern on the side of the shoe and Ko’s signature on the other side. The South Korean hibiscus flower and the silver leaf are integrated into the sole of the shoe for a nice aesthetic touch. ECCO did a great job making the shoe tastefully modest while still delivering a unique dash of character.
Comfort Level
Blending comfort and performance can be fairly difficult for a golf shoe. Once you’ve experienced a pair that does both really well, you realize how much of a difference that makes and how many other shoes come up short in that relationship. ECCO always seems to do a great job finding the right blend of those two elements and the BIOM G5 is no exception. It’s lightweight, breathable, cushioned enough to be comfortable for long periods of time, firm enough for excellent support and balance throughout the golf swing, and your feet will stay dry thanks to the GORE-TEX and leather outer layers. Additionally, the BOA Fit System will keep the shoe firmly wrapped to your foot for full support throughout the entire wear.
On-Course Performance
As mentioned above, the ECCO BIOM G5 is a comfortable shoe that will withstand a full day of golf. Additionally, the GORE-TEX outer and ZARMA-TOUR spikes make the BIOM G5 a great all-weather shoe. In wet or slick conditions, your feet will stay dry while keeping you connected to the ground. The combination of the spikes and “hybrid” portion create tight traction with enough freedom for any necessary footwork.
In addition to good traction, the BIOM G5 has a stable platform that keeps you well balanced throughout the swing. The FLUIDFORM technology provides “rebound” which helps with the cushioning of the shoe, but it also helps with the shoe’s responsiveness. I’ll do my best to describe what I mean, but it’s sort of complicated. If you think of how your feet move throughout a golf swing, there are different transitions that occur. A big one being “driving your weight” from your back foot forward. I feel that the rebound of the shoe goes a long way in assisting with that motion. In short, what I’m trying to say is that the BIOM G5 will give you a solid foundation, but has an active response that I feel helps to make a great golf swing.

ECCO objectively makes great golf shoes for both men and women, there’s no argument there. The BIOM G5 is a great all-around performer loaded with technology in a contemporary athletic profile. It’s easy to understand why its trusted by the young phenom that is Lydia Ko. Ko’s signature model is a fun and tasteful nod to her heritage that will suit her fans, or really any lady golfer looking for a great shoe! One thing’s for sure, you know you can expect an ultra-premium product from ECCO and the BIOM G5 delivers just that.
