XXIO Eleven Driver Review

XXIO Eleven Driver

The XXIO Eleven driver is built to give moderate swing speed golfers more distance and straighter drives.  As a whole, XXIO is a high-end quality golf manufacturer built for the moderate swinger who can benefit from lightweight, forgiving clubs.  While I wouldn’t classify myself as a moderate swing speed player, I enlisted the help of a few golfer friends that were to get their feedback on the XXIO Eleven.

The Looks

I’ll start by saying the XXIO Eleven driver is one sleek looking club.  The metallic blue club head really pops, and when you get it in the sunlight, my goodness does it look great.  The borders of the crown feature a darker blue, and get brighter as you move closer to the center.  It has to be the coolest off-the-rack driver paint job I’ve seen.  To go with the sick head, the shaft starts as a dark blue towards the grip, then slowly transitions to a light metallic blue, matching the head.  Overall, really impressed with the blue color scheme from XXIO.  Really slick looking driver.

How Does it Feel?

After gathering feedback from others, the most noticeable comments I got were that the driver feels light, yet responsive.  What does that mean?  That when first picking up the club, they could feel how light the XXIO Eleven was compared to their normal driver.  However, when swinging, it didn’t feel out of control from being too light.  In fact, two of them used the words “surprisingly smooth” to describe a swing with the XXIO Eleven.  On impact, the general consensus was that the face felt pretty soft on the hands on both solid and missed shots, attributing to the forgiveness of the club.

How Does it Sound?

While the look and feel got a positive consensus from the group, the sound had more of mixed reviews.  From my observation, the XXIO Eleven driver is a really loud driver.  Shots off the center of the face let out an almost aluminum-sounding, high pitched “crack” sound.  For those like me, who dislike loud, “ting-y” drivers, you may not love the sound of the XXIO Eleven.  However, for some, including one of my testers, they really enjoyed the sound, citing that it “made them feel like they really crushed it.  The sound it gives off makes me feel like the ball is going to go far.” Sound can be something where preference varies from person to person, so you’ll have to be the judge for yourself.  If you like a loud, explosive driver, the XXIO is going to fit that bill.

The XXIO Eleven packs a few new technologies in order to ensure you improve your game off of the tee.  The Star Frame creates a supportive rib structure that allows for a head with an ultra thin sole, enabling XXIO to redistribute the weight elsewhere, increasing launch and forgiveness. The Cup Face creates a variable thickness across the face to increase ball speed both in the center of the face and on mishits.  Lastly, the Weight Plus counterbalance weights in the butt of the shaft help beginners find the ideal top-of-the-swing position, while allowing you to generate more power with a smooth, fluid swing.

With that, almost every tester of our driver saw a significant increase.  Some of the more consistent improvements were an increased swing speed of about 3 to 5 mph due to the lighter weight of the club.  This resulted in distance gains for each one of our golfers.  The overwhelming, and most positive, feedback was split between distance gains and the forgiveness.  Multiple times, the testers made comments like “oops, missed that one,” and yet didn’t see substantial distance loss or offline misses.  And while a few in our testing group noticed fairly high spin numbers,  I don’t think that’s detrimental, as they still saw distance gains and tighter dispersion.  The spin also helped keep the ball in the air for more carry.  As a whole, the group gave overall positive feedback in the XXIO Eleven, with two of them saying that it could be replacing their gamer.

Final Thoughts – XXIO Eleven Driver

The general consensus from a moderate swing speed group for the XXIO Eleven driver was positive.  It has a smooth feel, is super lightweight, and lead to real distance gains.  Oh yeah, and it’s one of the coolest looking drivers I have ever seen.  And while the XXIO Eleven comes at a higher price point than other drivers in this category, based on the feedback/performance I saw with this group, it’s still worth testing if you can fit it into your budget and want to make an investment.

What does the eleven mean in XXIO 11 driver??

  2. Is “S” senior or stiff. I’m confused (for a change)??

    • Tommy O'Connell

S is stiff. R is regular. They don’t make the Eleven in a Senior (typically A) flex at this point.

  3. What is the difference between a XXIO 11 and a XXIO 10 driver?

    • Tommy O'Connell

      Curtis –

I haven’t hit the XXIO 10 so I cannot accurately give you a comparison.

      Thanks!

  6. Does XXIO provide a stock SR rated shaft.
I have an older model that does and I understand it means between a stiff and regular shaft.
It works great for my swing.

    • Tommy O'Connell

      John –
SR would be senior flex that is below regular on the spectrum. It is also sometimes notes as A flex

      Thanks!
      Tommy

No, SR shafts fro XXIO are Stiff Regular, which really is Regular when compared to US manufacturers.
The R2 model is the Senior or A flex

  7. Tommy, thanks but XXIO sold their drivers a few years ago with a graphite shaft they called SR (stiff regular), MP 900, 44g.

Do you know if this would be available on their new drivers XXIO 11??

    Thanks

    • Tommy O'Connell

John – at the bottom of the review all of the available specs are listed. XXIO only overs the Eleven Driver is Regular and Stiff.

      Thanks,
      Tommy

  8. A friend of mine just bought this driver and let me hit it on the range yesterday. It’s the real deal. Yards longer and forgiving.

  9. bought a XXIO X Prime driver, could not hit it at all, back to my Epic

  10. The SR (stiff regular) is a great shaft and available in Asia…… I haven’t seen the SR in USA.

  11. Usually I can see blue head, but some case I can see red head version. What is difference between them?

  12. How does xxio driver compared to light drivers like Cobra Air x., ? Trying to decide between Xxio & Cobra.,
I have a slow swing speed, Xxio is expensive

    • Tommy O'Connell

      John –

We haven’t had a chance to review the Cobra. Our recommendation is to find the nearest fitter and hit them side by side.

  13. Hello…….What is the weight of the Regular and Stiff stock shafts?

    • Tommy O'Connell

      Hi Kyle –

Unfortunately I don’t have that info handy and these are no longer on the XXIO site since the 12 was released.

You can try emailing XXIO and they should be able to help.

      Thanks,
      Tommy
